Book Name : Türk Kültüründe Helva (Helva in Turkish Culture)
From the back cover : “The journey of helva in Turkish culture dates back to ancient Turks. In ancient Turkish religion, life did not end with death but continued through ancestral spirits. When needed, people sought help from ancestral spirits or performed certain practices to protect themselves from potential harm. One such practice involved spreading fragrance around. This ritual later evolved into the tradition of serving helva after a funeral. The use of helva in Turkish culture is ancient enough to have given rise to proverbs and expressions related to helva. Helva, from birth to death, remains the only sweet consumed at every stage of life, just as it was in ancient times and continues to be today. This book features 12 studies based on written and oral sources about helva, which holds such a significant place in Turkish culture."
